Ian Macleod Distillers tijdens Icons of Whisky Awards 2018 verkozen tot Distiller of the Year!

Het Schotse familiebedrijf Ian Macleod Distillers is tijdens Icons of Whisky verkozen tot Distiller of the Year. Hieronder het officiële persbericht: Ian Macleod Distillers Triumphs at Whisky Magazine’s Icons of Whisky Awards 2018 Scottish, family-owned firm, Ian Macleod Distillers, is celebrating a momentous win after scooping the title of Distiller of the Year at Whisky Magazine’s Icons of Whisky Awards 2018. After being crowned Scottish winner in January 2018, the independent firm fought off stiff international competition and was presented the prestigious title at the global awards, held at the Waldorf Hilton in London. Marking an astounding year for the company, the decision comes hot on the heels of the acquisition of the King of the Lowlands, Rosebank Distillery, the release of extraordinary expressions from Tamdhu Distillery, the ever-increasing visitor numbers at Glengoyne Distillery, and the sustained growth and development of Edinburgh Gin around the world. Established in 1933, Ian Macleod Distillers is one of Scotland’s leading independent, family owned distillers, blenders and bottlers. The company currently produce and sell over 15 million bottles of spirit per year. Commenting on the awards, Leonard Russell, Managing Director of Ian Macleod Distillers, said: "It is a great honour to win this award, particularly as we were initially nominated by our industry peers. As a company, we have been working hard to build the reputation of our brands and this award should really go to our excellent team here at Ian Macleod Distillers." Whisky Magazine, Icons of Whisky, are designed to celebrate the great whiskies of the world; inviting the industry elite to nominate the finest whisky producers and individuals in the category. For more information, please visit www.ianmacleod.com Notes to Editors: Tamdhu Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky Tamdhu is 100% matured in the finest sherry oak casks from Spain. Born on the banks of the River Spey in 1897, its quality is also defined by the hint of peat in its malted barley and the natural Speyside water that is drawn directly from the Tamdhu spring. Glengoyne Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky Glengoyne is widely considered Scotland’s most beautiful distillery. Uncompromising in its pursuit of excellence its stills run slower than any other distillery in order to create the rich, bold flavours for which the brand is known. Edinburgh Gin Edinburgh Gin was established in 2010 and acquired by Ian Macleod Distillers in September 2016. Production of Edinburgh Gin continues at the distillery and visitor centre on Rutland Place in Edinburgh and at their second distillery at The Biscuit Factory in Leith. The Edinburgh Gin range includes original Edinburgh Gin, Cannonball Edinburgh Gin, Seaside Edinburgh Gin, and a range of fruit Gin Liqueurs, including the popular Raspberry Liqueur, Elderflower Liqueur, Rhubarb & Ginger Liqueur, Plum & Vanilla Liqueur and recently launched Pomegranate and Rose Liqueur. Rosebank Distillery The King of the Lowlands, Rosebank Distillery is located beside the Forth & Clyde Canal at Camelon, on the outskirts of the town of Falkirk, between Edinburgh and Glasgow. Rosebank closed in 1993 but was resurrected by Ian Macleod Distillers this year. Rosebank’s single malts are now some of the most sought-after in the connoisseurs’ and collectors’ markets.
